"Engagingly off-center brand of pop...slapping bass lines, flirty harmonies,
blues harp solos and just your basic all-night-party, alternative career
groove." -- Washington Post
"Clever, witty, danceable stuff" -- Washington Times
"Extremely tight. Full, well-rounded rock sound" -- MTV.com
The Oxymorons take the stage with a mix of the hottest new songs, the best
of the old, and their award-winning originals, giving audiences a night of
hip-shaking New Orleans funk, soulful blues, Americana roots, classic rock,
and cutting-edge guitar driven songs to entertain like no other.
Combining seasoned musicianship and soaring vocals, this seriously-fun
eight-piece band has been playing local venues for the past 14 years
including the Black Cat, State Theatre, Velvet Lounge, Lewie's, and the
legendary Bayou. They've gigged at Adams Morgan Day, the Great Falls Summer
Concert Series, Inaugural Balls, and dozens of benefits, weddings, and
private parties.
The Oxymorons are two bands in one - capable of reeling off favorite party
tunes spanning three decades and well-crafted originals in the rock, funk
and blues veins. Songs from their two original CDs have received airplay on
local radio stations and were selected for two Washington Area Music
Association local music CDs.
Their funkily eclectic cover list includes songs by the Neville Brothers,
John Hiatt, Elvis Costello, the Beatles, Macy Gray, Fiona Apple, the
Pretenders, Foo Fighters, Al Green, and Bruce Springsteen. With male and
female vocals, two guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, congas, and blues harp,
the Morons have the versatility to please any crowd.
